An actor with character

John Albert St. Croix IV was born in Rochester, New York to both Sherry and John St. Croix and would be the youngest member of the family with two older sisters. Along with his parents, John moved to Camden, South Carolina when he was 9 years old, which is where John began to explore his love for theatre at the Kershaw County Fine Arts Center. There he got the opportunity to play roles like Kenickie in Grease and Frank Baum in The Patchwork Girl of Oz. Eventually, in High School, John began to look further for more opportunities in the theatre extending his reach out to the neighboring larger city, Columbia.  He joined The Broadway Bound Musical Theatre Company there, where he studied all aspects of musical theatre weekly.   With Broadway Bound, he worked alongside the larger community theatres in Columbia and became quite the experienced performer. During this time he performed in such large musicals as The Leader of the Pack and even as Mongojerrie in Cats.  After graduating from high school John started attending Coastal Carolina University majoring in Musical Theatre.  After his freshman year, he received a recommendation from faculty members to focus more on acting, as that was what seemed to be where he was finding the most success.  John then changed his major from Musical Theatre to Dramatic Arts, where he began to study passionately both classical and contemporary text.  During his time at Coastal, John took on artistically demanding roles such as, his first leading role, CB in Dog Sees God and in his final year George Tesman in Hedda Gabler.  During the summers while in college John continued his studies at regional theatres on the east coast completing apprenticeships and internships at The Berkshire Theatre Festival, New Jersey Shakespeare Festival and The Virginia Shakespeare Festival where he even had the opportunity to play Guildenstern in Hamlet.  Once finished with college John moved to New York City and began his professional acting career.  In NYC John began to find his passion for classical text and performed with companies like Underling Productions, The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company, New York Shakespeare Exchange, Gallery Players, Classics on the Rocks and The Jersey City Theatre Center.  Now coming up on his 14th year in New York City, John has begun the efforts to create his own community through both education, training and performance.  John hopes to eventually create a space among like-minded professionals to create and celebrate themselves and their craft.
